Rules and Regulations

We should all bear this in mind when taking part and remember first of all we are Muslims so we must act in view of this.

 

GENERAL


Please make sure you read this carefully before filling in the registration form.

  1. The Nottingham Muslim Unity League (NMUL) will not be responsible for any losses of valuables, injuries incurred or breakage of equipment during the matches. Participants are advised to take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of their belongings.

  2. Only worshippers of their respective Nottingham Mosques are allowed to take part in the league. We would expect, through mutual trust that necessary steps are taken by the respective team captains.

  3. Participants are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the Sports Centre. The game referees have the right to dismiss individual/s or participating team/s where the rules have been breached or as seen appropriate by the regulations. Unruly behaviour or any conspicuous abuse at the referees will not be tolerated.

  4. All disputes are to be referred to the NMUL Committee, which will have the final say. Please make sure any issues regarding the validity of players are made before the start of the matches. Individual/s or team/s, who do not fulfil any aspects of the rules will be disqualified.

  5. Captains must take the responsibility to ensure their team is ready and available for their match at least 5 minutes before it starts. Please notify any problems to the referee in charge of the particular match. Unless a reasonable excuse is brought forward or any given circumstances are justified. The ‘Walkover Rule’ will apply to the team that is 5 minutes late from their expected schedule.

  6. The registration fees will not be refunded once paid. No refunds will be given to the team/participant that is disqualified or dismissed from their respective matches.

  7. The NMUL Committee has the right to alter the rules to ensure it ends in time and according to schedule.

5-A-SIDE FOOTBALL

    This competition is organised on a league basis with 10 teams each playing one another twice. Teams will play on Tuesday evenings either at 7:15pm or 8:15pm.

     

    Entry Requirements
    Players may only play for one team in the whole competition. No new players can be added to the squad after week 4. No more than 7 players are allowed in a squad. All players must be named on the entry form. The organiser must be informed of any changes to the squad prior to the match. Teams found breaking these rules face point deductions and possible disqualification from the league.

     

    Rules for 5-a-side Football tournament As for Association Football except:

     

    • No offside rule.
    • Duration of play – 25 minutes each way.
    • No head height rule.
    • Back passes to the goalkeeper are allowed. However after receiving the ball from the goalkeeper you CANNOT pass it straight back. (If this happens a free kick is awarded 5 yards from the goal keepers area)
    • The ball may be played off the side and back walls.
    • No one is allowed in the penalty area except the respective goalkeepers.
    • The goalkeeper is NOT allowed out of his penalty area.
    • Sliding tackles are NOT allowed.
    • The opposition must be a minimum of 5 yards from any free kick.
    • The Referee will operate a ‘2 minute Sin Bin’ for misconduct. If a player receives two ‘Sin Bins’ in one game, the player will take no further part in that game and will also receive an automatic one match suspension.
    • No new players will be allowed for any team after week 4 of the tournament.
      A team must have a minimum of 4 players on the pitch, or a 10-0 walkover will be recorded.

     

    • A Penalty will be awarded if:
    1. A player enters his own penalty area.
    2. A goalkeeper goes out of his own penalty area.
    3. The Penalty taker may only take ONE STEP.

     

    • Free Kick Offences: As for Association Football except:
    1. Sliding Tackles will be penalised by a direct free kick.
    2. A ball being passed straight back to the goalkeeper, after the goalkeeper has rolled it out will be penalised by an indirect free kick 5 yards from the Penalty area.

     

    • Points:
    1. - 3 points for a win
    2. - 1 point for a draw
    3. - 0 for a loss or no result

     

    • If a team arrives late and the game cannot be completed it will count as a draw.
    • For persistent misconduct, a game can be called off at any time at the referee’s discretion. If there is a fight during a match, the match will automatically be abandoned and both teams will be penalised.

Fighting is strictly prohibited ON or OFF the pitch. The NMUL Committee considers this a very serious offence and has the authority to penalise teams or disqualify teams from the league. The NMUL Games Committee may also ban the particular team from taking part in the league.

The referee’s decision is final. Any complaints must be directed to the NMUL Committee.
