About Us

"The relationship of the believer with another believer is like the bricks of a building, each strengthens the other"

Introduction

Muslims are urged to unite and work together towards a common goal set by the Quran and shown by the Prophet (PBUH) through his beautiful Sunnah. Muslims are brothers and sisters because they are united by the common ideology of the oneness of God and the unity of mankind.

These are the fundamental principles of Islam. The Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) require Muslims to work for the unity of this Ummah. Muslims are required to be merciful towards each other and be like the body where if any part hurts the whole body should feel the pain. But, are Muslims practicing this injunction of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet? Muslims and various Islamic organisations are working hard but it is frustratingly obvious that the above goals are ever so illusive. Instead of Muslims being united in mercy towards each other, they are, on the whole, far from it. Is Muslim unity only a dream that cannot be fulfilled?

Aim

The sole aim of the Notts Muslim Unity league is to unite all the young Muslims of Nottingham, whatever their background, creed or madhab is. Time has come when we all need to unite and become one ummah as commanded by our beloved Prophet.

Notts Muslim Unity League uses football to bring together young Muslims from different Mosques within Nottingham. Using football as a means of engagement, Notts Muslim Unity League aims to bring Muslims together in a bid to improve relations between young Muslims in Nottingham.

If we do not do it, no one else will. Allah says in the Quran “Verily never will Allah change a condition of people until they change what is within their souls” [Ra'd 13:11].

Objectives

  • To organise a football league consisting of 12 teams from different areas of Nottingham, representing all the different mosques.
  • To encourage Muslims from different mosques and areas to work together.
  • To provide a platform for Muslims to participate in competitive sports.
  • To provide an opportunity for Muslims in Nottingham to come together on common terms for a common cause.
  • To engage Muslims from different backgrounds and mosques to understand one another.
